TREAT GUM DISEASE

Did you know that gum disease is one of the leading diseases in the United States? It is a bacterial infection of the gums that arises when a sticky film of bacteria known as plaque builds up on the teeth and hardens. It is usually caused by disease (gingivitis, periodontitis, advanced periodontitis), the natural aging process, or abrasive oral hygiene habits.

Believe it or not, a whopping 85% of adults suffer from gum disease and 40% of them don’t even know they have it. An even smaller percentage of those who are diagnosed with periodontal disease, accept treatment.

Fortunately, Dr. Amin Samadian has extensive training in periodontal work and is dedicated to providing you with the gum treatment you may need to restore your gum health and reduce your risk of serious health issues such as heart disease in the future.

WHAT IS GUM TREATMENT

The purpose of gum treatment is to stop gum disease in its tracks so that it does not worsen and cause further damage to the bone and tissue. After evaluating your particular case of gum disease, Dr. Amin Samadian will inform you of your unique treatment plan and goals. The severity of your infection and extent of the damage will help determine the type of treatment you require.

REASONS FOR GUM TREATMENT

Many patients do not even know that they suffer from gum disease because it is a slowly progressing condition. Although it may be misunderstood as normal aging, it’s actually a chronic disease that can be treated.

If you experience bleeding when you brush or floss your teeth, you may have gum disease and should schedule a dental exam immediately. At your dental appointment, your dentist will probe your teeth to detect high probe readings and look for gum disease.

Receding gums or bone may also indicate gum disease. Other common symptoms of gum disease include loose or separating teeth, pus between your gums and teeth, and sores in your mouth.

Early detection is the key to successful gum disease treatment so it’s important to seek dental care as soon as you notice any signs of the condition.

WHAT DOES GUM TREATMENT INVOLVE?

LANAP®

Dr. Amin Samadian is pleased to offer the LANAP® protocol gum disease treatment. LANAP® is a minimally invasive, less painful, most acceptable alternative to general surgery. There is no cutting or sewing involved.

Also known as laser gum surgery, LANAP® is the only scientifically proven method to completely restore gum health. It can result in periodontal regeneration, new bone growth, and gum tissue reattachment. To perform LANAP®, Dr. Amin Samadian uses a minimally invasive laser machine, which features seven variable pulse durations with discrete tissue interactions.

Unlike other gum disease treatment, laser gum surgery does not impair healthy gum tissue. Instead, it slows or stops attachment loss, decreases the depth of pockets, and allows the body to recover quickly from the infection without the need for surgery.

Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation

Another option that Dr. Amin Samadian may recommend is the Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation™. It’s a minimally invasive procedure for resolving gum recession and saving teeth. It doesn’t involve any scalpels, sutures, or grafts and typically comes with minimal discomfort and swelling.

During Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation™, Dr. Amin Samadian will use a needle to create a small hole, gently loosen your gum tissue, and glide it over the receded part of your teeth. You’ll likely be able to resume your daily activities within 24 hours after treatment.

IS GUM TREATMENT PAINFUL?

Fortunately, Dr. Amin Samadian conducts the most cutting-edge gum treatments in his office so you can expect minimal pain and discomfort when undergoing a gum procedure. If necessary, he can prescribe pain medications and provide you with specific after-care directions to ensure you have a speedy and pain-free recovery.

WHAT RESULTS WILL I SEE?

After laser gum treatment, you can restore the health of your gums and reduce the risk of serious health complications down the road.
